What is blepharoplasty surgery?
A blepharoplasty involves the surgical repositioning or removal of skin, muscle, and fat of the upper and/or lower eyelids. The surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure at the Stony Point Surgery Center under IV sedation and a local anesthetic block.
Although the procedure is often done for cosmetic reasons alone and on a self-pay basis, there are certain medically recognized conditions that might justify coverage by your medical insurance, i.e. demonstrated visual field loss or impairment from lid inter-ference or chronic lid infections (blepharitis). A pre-operative exam, including external photos and visual fields will be done prior to your surgery to establish possible medical indications.
Please complete the medical history questionnaire and bring it with you to the
pre-operative appointment. You will also need to submit the pre-registration form
provided to Stony Point either by mail or on-line about 2 weeks prior to your scheduled surgery date.
